"The Process" is a sculpture that speaks about the understandings I have about the nature of life.

My understanding about life is that life is impermanence, continuous change, or movement. This movement is articulated with the motion of the sculpture traveling up and down into the Ying/Yang altars. The negative space that is created by the upward and downward movement of the sculpture suggests a head and body, a symbol representing the Source of all things.

The white patina on the inside symbolizes the purity of divinity. On the outside of the Ying/Yang alters is darkened texture that represents the drama of life. Placed on top are polished petroglyph designs of rain clouds, the sun, the moon, and lighting. As well as, a circle for the soul of the Angel that gives guidance, and an alter step design for prayer and mediation. On each alter is negative space sculpted in the likeness of the space representing the Source.

My intention in creating this piece was so that I could contemplate some of the most profound statements inspired by the Creator and how I could convey this into sculptural form. Going through the process of creating this piece and the constant revisiting of these profound concepts brings closer to knowing and experiencing the Source that intended and visualized the life I now create.
